A Reader Asks: Is Dwayne "The Rock "Johnson Gay?

Someone recently emailed me and asked if I thought Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was gay. (Ok so I also happen to know the person who asked).

My answer: No. I don't think so. Apparently Johnson, 36, did play a gay bodyguard in the movie Be Cool with John Travolta (which I didn't see, but heard was terrible). He reportedly said the role made him realize that homosexuality is no longer something that needs to be hidden in Hollywood. [source]

But the main reason I don't think "The Rock" is gay, Sue, is because of something he said to OUT (a gay magazine) back in 2005.

"I know a lot of gay actors in Hollywood who don't want to come out, and whatever the reasons are I respect that," he said. "But I think if people love you now, and if you came out, they would love you more, and if they didn't, then they weren't real people to begin with." [source]

You'd hope he'd take his own advice. Right?

Johnson and his wife of 10 years, Dany Garcia Johnson, amicably divorced in 2007. [IMDb]

Upon announcing their separation the two released a statement, which partly read:

"While certain aspects of our relationship have changed, we are both vitally important to each other's lives...We've been fortunate enough to spend the last 17 years together as a couple and look forward to spending the rest our lives together as best friends and business partners." [People]

They have a 6-year-old daughter.

I hope that satisfies your question. And you never know...

You can look forward to seeing Johnson in the movie Get Smart with Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell. It hits theaters June 20.

I also highly recommend The Rundown (okay so I don't. My BF would if he read this posting, which he won't). It's a terrible, yet somehow enjoyable flick.

What the fuck...how is he gay? Only an idiot would ask a question like that. He's too hot to be gay.
