There is an Actual "Tranny" on ANTM This Season

At some point in, practically, every cycle of America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks, Miss J and some of the other judges, accuse a contestant/s of either A.) looking like a tranny, drag queen, or B.) looking like a boy in a picture. (In this case they usually mean it in a good way. And sometimes they soften the blow by substituting "androgynous" for "boy.")

But this season (Cycle 11), they may have to hurl their insults with a little more tact. Because, yes, one of the hopeful models, competing, is actually transgender.

"My cards were dealt differently," Isis Tsunami, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly exclusively.

And now the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is applauding Ty Ty "for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible," which means, Ty Ty is going to be talking about it A LOT.

The new season starts September 3.


I saw this on Pazzo Kevin and DListed yesterday, but wasn't sure if it was true.

Yuck! American Pie has-been Shannon Elizabeth, 34, and Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Derek Hough, 22, are a couple and probably getting their own reality show. Nice age gap BTW.

Mel "Scary Spice" Brown, 32, and husband Stephan Belafonte's production company, Osiris, will likely produce the show, which will showcase the couple as their careers evolve (not likely) and their romance blossoms. Brown, reportedly hinted that the two are moving in together. Grrr-osss.

In case you forgot, this is what the two were doing on the beach, during a break from dance practice. Before they were eliminated that is.

The first "plus-size" model, Whitney Thompson, 20, won on America's Next Top Model this season. The winner was announced on Wednesday night. What is she, a size 8? [US]

Yaya DaCosta in a Dr. Scholl's® Commerical

I'm pretty sure I just saw Yaya DaCosta, America's Next Top Model cycle 3 runner-up, in a commercial for Dr. Scholl's® gel inserts.

I haven't been able to conclusively determine whether it was her, as there is no online footage available, but I'll keep you posted.

I do, however, know, with a certainty, that she was in a commercial for Oil of Olay's Pore Refining Mousse Cleanser. Just in case you care.

And while I'm speculating on stuff you might, but probably don't, care about, I saw Eugena Washington, a contestant on America's Next Top Model cycle 7, in a Target commercial.

Update: An anonymous reader has informed me that it is, indeed, DaCosta in the Dr. Scholl's® commercial. Now we all know it's definitely true. How awesome would it be if that anonymous reader was Yaya herself. Hey, I can dream can't I?

Update: Tonisloverboy informed me that DaCosta "just landed a role on All My Children." Wikipedia says he's right. Congrats to her!
